Writer's Block: Look at Me/Don't Look at Me

Do you seek attention or hide from it?

I suppose it depends what kind of attention and who the attention is coming from. Even if its good attention. if it comes from people I dislike then I don't care whether I receive it or not.
But of course I enjoy some attention.

Writer's Block: Shhhh

Would you ever go on a silent retreat? How long do you think you could go without talking?

This might sound strange but I bet I could go without talking for several days, it wouldn't bother me. It would be a problem at school of course, but if I wrote what I was doing down and made up an excuse (like a sponsered silence) for the silence. I don't think I would feel unusual or uncomfortable not being able to speak, as long as it was temporary, as there are other ways to communicate. e.g. writing.
But I still would not like to never be able to speak. I may be able to not speak for days, perhaps a couple of weeks, but I couldn't bear not speaking for life.

Writer's Block: Wild Life

How long could you survive on your own in the wild?

The short answer is not very long. Unless I was equipped with a portable fridge full of food and drink, a heater and a tent with bedding. Oh, and my nintendo ds, mobile phone and submachine gun with ammo (to scare away any dangerous animals or hostile people).
But without anything like the list above, I would hardly last over a day probably. I'm an indoor, domesticated person.
Saying that though I do have a good general knowledge and have read a few books on stuff like survival but that's theory. I bet in practise I'd be awful at surviving.

Lock-up

Lock-Up Review
Batman The Animated Series

I have decided to review some episodes from Batman the Animated Series. One's I found especially fantastic- although I love every last one of them.
As the title says this is a review of Lock-Up.

Basic Plot: Lyle Bolton is the new chief of security at Arkham Asylum, but despite his knowledge on security systems he is not the right man for the job. He is abusive to the inmates and has them terrified. But once he is found out and fired from Arkham, Bolton takes on the persona of a vigilanti named Lock-Up who is devoted to locking up several prominant Gotham citizens.

My View: Lyle Bolton was a brilliant one time villain, a sadistic, cruel security guard appeals to me as a character. It is simply a good idea for an unlikeable villain. Perhaps it is my sympathetic side acting up, but I felt genuine pity for the rogues who were too terrified to even say what he was doing to them. That is until the idea of Lyle Bolton continuing to work at Arkham is put forward by Bruce Wayne. Then they snap, desperately trying to get forward their stories of torment and cruelties performed by the agressive guard.

It also was a good episode as it showed that Batman has strong moral views and still sees the criminals he puts away as human beings who deserve to be treated with some humanity. This characteristic is one of the main reasons he is my favourite comic book hero.

Lock-Up also has an excellent beginning. Scarecrow being brought back to Arkham, pleading and clinging to Batman, desperate not to taken back to his cell in Arkham and having to face the new head of security. It is of course understandable. Jonathan Crane is a short, extremely skinny guy who is hardly going to stand a chance against the very large, muscular Lyle Bolten. But the irony of the 'Master Of Fear' trembling and terrified of someone is brilliant.

I loved Lock-Up, the corrupt, cruel guard has some great moments and so does the other characters. It has many memorable scenes. I highly reccomend it, as I do every episode... :)

Quotes:

Scarecrow: Don't take me back there, please! Look at me, Batman! I'm shaking with fear! Me! The Scarecrow! I wasn't even going back to crime this time! I just had to get away from... him!

---

Harley Quinn: No! It's all true! If we don't speak up now, we'll never get another chance! He threatens us! Takes away our privileges, even when we're good!
Lyle Bolton: We've heard enough of this nonsense.
Scarecrow: He says scum like us should be kept in line! That's why he chains us down at night and electrifies our doors!
Scarface: He held me over a can of termites! Ya hear me?! TERMITES!
Harley Quinn: He's an animal!
Ventriloquist: A monster!
Scarecrow: Keep him away!
Lyle Bolton: [loses it] SHUT UP! ALL OF YOU!
[Bolton tries to attack the villains, but is eventually restrained]
Lyle Bolton: You're all scum! You should be beaten within an inch of your misbegotten lives!
Batholomew: I've seen enough! Lyle Bolton, you're dismissed!
[Bolton is slowly forced out]
Lyle Bolton: Before I came here, Arkham was a revolving door of every maniac in Gotham. I kept them in. Me! Now I realize I was wrong to punish those pathetic miscreants! THEY'RE ONLY SYMPTOMS! YOU'RE THE CAUSE! THE GUTLESS POLICE, MINDLESS BUREAUCRATS AND CODDLING DOCTORS! YOU SHOULD ALL BE LOCKED UP IN A CAGE WITHOUT A KEY!!!

My First Entry In Live Journal

My First Entry In Live Journal

Dr. Spencer ReidAlthough I am a Batman fanatic my first entry is about the American series 'Criminal Minds'. I have only watched a few episodes so far but am already thinking about buying the boxset.
One of the main reasons- apart from my obsession with psychology and crime- is the character Dr. Spencer Reid who is played by Matthew Gray Gubler. His awkwardness, undesirable childhood and intelligence make him a very interesting  character to me. I also love how he often pipes in with trivia like facts and his almost childlike enthusiasm about some things, such as Halloween.
His watch over his sleeve is a nice touch as well. Since its known some gifted people tend to wear stuff like this other their clothes. :)

Anyway, till next time, bye.
